OUR VISION
Our vision is to become the church as Christ intended it to be.
Our intent is to be intentionally diverse, passionately committed to loving God, compassionately committed to serving others, and unashamedly obsessed with sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to know God and to make Him known.
OUR BELIEFS
The following are the elements of Amity Bible Church’s doctrinal statement.
The Bible (Bibliology) · Inerrancy, Authority, Closed Cannon
The authority and inerrancy of Scriptures.
We believe the Holy Scriptures to be the inspired Word of God, authoritative, and without error in the original manuscripts. We further believe that the Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments are all sufficient and contain all that is necessary for salvation and instruction in faith and conduct. We further believe that God has exercised singular care and providence through the ages in preserving the written Word, that the Scriptures as we now have them are in every essential way are as originally given. (II Tim. 3:16-17; II Pet. 1:20-21; Psalm 19:7-11)
The Godhead (Trinity) · One God, Three Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
The Godhead (Trinity).
We believe that the Godhead eternally exists in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and that these three are one God. (Deut. 6:4; Gen. 1:26; Mat. 28:19)
Jesus Christ (Christology) · Fully Human, Fully God
The full deity and humanity of Christ.
We believe that Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was born of the Virgin Mary, received a human body and a sinless human nature without ceasing to be God, and is therefore both fully God and fully human. (Mat. 1:20-23; John 1:1-3, 14; Col. 1:15-19; Heb. 1:1-3)
The bodily resurrection of Christ.
We believe that Jesus Christ literally died, His body was buried, and He rose bodily from that grave on the third day and He presented Himself alive to many of His followers in His resurrected body during the 40 days that he remained before ascending into heaven. (Mat.28:1-7; Acts 1:1-3)
The physical return of Christ.
We believe that just as Jesus physically ascended into heaven that He will one day physically return in like manner to receive believers unto Himself. Upon His returning in the clouds the dead in Christ will be resurrected with eternal bodies and those who are still alive at His return, their bodies will be instantly changed and all will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air and thus shall they be with the Lord forever more. (Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thess. 4:13-17; 1 Cor. 15:51-55; John 14:1-3)
Salvation by faith alone in Christ alone.
We believe that mankind is justified by faith alone and he is accounted righteous before God only by the redeeming blood and finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believed that once salvation is accomplished that all true believers are kept saved forever. “Once saved always saved.” (John 3:14-17, 14:6; Acts 4:12; Eph. 2:8-9; John 10:27-29)
The Holy Spirit (Pneumatology) · Coequal, His Ministry
The Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity, dwells in every believer immediately after he places his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that through the Holy Spirit God provides the Fruit of the Spirit, the Gifts of the Spirit and the power to live the Christian life. (Acts 2:38, Rom. 8:9-11; Eph. 1:13-14; Gal. 5:16-25; 1 Cor. 12:4-11)
Man, Created and Fallen (Harmartiology) · Made in the image of God, Imputed Sin
Salvation (Soteriology) · Only Through Christ
The substitutional atonement for sin.
We believe that death of Jesus Christ was a true and sufficient substitutional atonement for the sin guilt of all who received Him by faith. We believe that His sacrifice paid the penalty for sin and made salvation available to all mankind. (2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Pet. 3:18; Eph. 2:8-10)
Penalty for Rejecting Jesus Christ.
We believe that all those who rejected Jesus Christ will be eternally separated from God to endure His wrath for eternity. (Rev. 20:11-15)
