JOIN A SMALL GROUP!

At Amity Bible Church, relationships are foundational to who we are. Our goal is to be a church where no one stands alone and we strive to develop disciples in the context of small groups. Our small groups provide a place to belong, to disclose, and to be your authentic self. We believe life is better when it is lived together so we encourage all Amity stewards to get plugged into a small group.

FAQS

Do I have to be an Amity Steward to join or participate in a small group?
No. We encourage all Amity stewards to join and participate in a small group to develop relationships and grow as a disciple of Christ. However, being an Amity steward is not required in order to join and/or participate in a small group.
How do I know my group is an official small group?
Great question! All new ideas for the formation of a Small Group must have the approval of the Amity Bible Church’s Associate Pastor of Equipping. His office is the best place to start if you have an idea for a Small Group.

If you’re a part of an existing group, i.e. Sunday School, ushers, etc., you become “official” when your group incorporates a Spiritual component (Discipleship), a Fellowship component, an outreach component (Service), and operate as a family that keeps in touch with each other (Accountability).

When can I start a small group?
Ideally, Small Groups will be launched quarterly as they are constructed and prepared for operation.
How long should my small group last?
It depends on the purpose of the Small Group. If the group’s primary focus is serving (i.e. ushers), it may be on-going; while a fellowship based group may meet over a short period of time.

The common denominator is the execution of the four Small Group characteristics, Discipleship, Service, Fellowship, and Accountability.

Is there training available to be a small group facilitator?
Absolutely! Not only is there training, there’s also Spiritual revelation when stewards step out on faith and heed God’s calling. The equipping department ensures that facilitators are well prepared and assisted as needed throughout the process.

Facilitator training can be conducted on an as needed basis for anybody willing to assume the role. The initial training is less than two hours, can be conducted in-person or on-line, with assistance as needed as facilitation is executed.

Can I be a small group facilitator for more than one group?
Luke 1:37 says, For with God all things are possible; so, if He’s given you the bandwidth, it can be done. But to expand our pool of qualified facilitators, we encourage you to help us grow the next generation of facilitators by incorporating co-facilitators.
How many people can be in my small group?
The number varies, but the desire is 5-10 if at all possible. The reason for the smaller number is the bonding benefits and transparency associated with the smaller size groups.
